As a family we had very little experience of planning a funeral. Our lovely Dad died and we met the loveliest people ever.

I never thought about what I would have to do if I ever needed to arrange a funeral. However, I recently lost my mum. I was deverstated, clueless and extremely funerable. Robbie and Steph have been absolutely fantastic in arranging my brothers funeral. They made what we thought would be a really hard process so easy for us; they are incredibly attentive and get things done so efficiently without question. We had a couple of last minute changes the day before Jason’s funeral and Robbie just said to leave it with her and within an hour, she had sorted everything. They really couldn’t have done a better job, everybody at the service told us how great she was which just shows how amazing the service at Herbert Murray is. Thankyou both so much, we will never forget how supportive you have been to us over the last few weeks.

I didn’t know where to start when my dad passed away a few weeks ago.

I decided to ring Herbert Murray as they were closest to where dad lived.

Steph answered my call she was so calmly spoken and slowly took me through what I would need to do allowing me time to pause and cry when I found things overwhelming. She was so understanding she went
through everything that was available for my lovely dad breaking down the costs and letting me know the extra choices to give my dad the most personal and best send off that mum and the family wanted. I didn’t feel rushed and my questions were answered. I came off the phone and mum and I agreed it was Herbert Murray for us.

I rang Steph back and we had an appointment the next day. Mum and I and my husband went In it felt warm , calm and peaceful.We spent nearly 2hrs with Steph who helped us plan step by step our celebration of life for dads funeral. Steph had said she could get a motorbike hearse when I rang and was amazed when I said yes that’s what we want!!! Steph was amazing she went ahead and got us the Triumph Bonneville motorbike hearse.
Keeping it a secret along with us until the day. Along with our order of service designed with horse racing in line with dads life long hobby. Steph also found us a Celebrant Jilly to suit our plans who came to the house and conducted dads service just as we wanted it to be thanks Jilly.

It took a while for dad to go into their care but when he did he couldn’t have been looked after better. We can’t thank Steph enough for enabling us to say a final goodbye when we didn’t think we’d be able to. Your Chapel of rest was lovely, calm warm and peaceful the extra touches were so heartfelt and thoughtful. It was an experience that I won’t forget.

We can’t thank you enough for all you and Robbie have done for us as a family and for how you cared for my lovely dad while he was resting with you. You made what was a painful sad time more easier to bare. You gave us the support when it was needed always on the end of the phone and regularly checking that we were ok. You got mum the motorbike she asked for and dad got his final ride in style. Steph you even stopped the traffic when a car pushed in front of us on dads final journey and I will always remember that.

Following the untimely passing away of my beautiful wife, a friend advised me of Herbert, Murray funeral directors. Despite them not being local to where I live, I decided to to visit them at their address on Green Lane Ashton on Mersey.

Where do I start…
From the day I called in to ask what do I do now to the day of my dads funeral Robbie and Steph were both absolutely amazing.

They took control, were compassionate, empathetic, sympathetic, caring, understanding of my strange requests, funny and just brilliant in every single way.

The way they looked after dad, was just out of this world. when I went in Chapel I really couldn’t believe how happy and peaceful he was. The little touches they added, perfection as if they actually knew my dad. I missed my true pops so much and they brought him back to me.

On the day, when I broke-down, Robbie was a rock. She kept watch, making sure no one was alone.
Steph reassured me that our crazy priest was on his best behaviour… and he was! Well apart from asking for money for candles!!!

They even made sure the weather was right, not too hot or too cold.

I will never forget the respect they showed our family and friends and most importantly my Dad. Everyone commented on how brilliant you both were. So honourable, no one had ever seen this your special touch but you touched all our hearts.

From the moment we met Robbie & Steph in July to arrange our daughters funeral we knew they were the right ladies to look after her for us.
They were compassionate and caring and looked after us all and let us go at our pace to arrange everything. Nothing was too much trouble for them and sourced us the perfect floral tribute.
The funeral was perfect and all about our daughter. Alex the celebrant spoke so well about her that everyone thought she knew her previously.

From the start, Robbie and Steph were a huge comfort and support to myself and my family following the death of my husband, after a 12 year battle with dementia. Everything was taken care of professionally and to an excellent standard.

Having attended a friend’s funeral two years ago organised by Herbert Murray we had no hesitation in selecting them when my mum passed away. Nothing was too much trouble and they were always at the end of a phone to offer comfort and advice. My mum could not have been better looked after if she had been the Queen. The service felt really personal while at the same time highly professional. I came to regard Robbie and Steph as really close friends that we needed during this tragic time. I am absolutely blown away at how genuine and caring they are here. Nothing has been too much trouble.Steph has gone above and beyond to look after my family and our loved one who is resting at the chapel.
My daughter and myself knew as soon as we walked in that this was where we wanted our loved one to spend his days while waiting for his final send off.

I cannot commend Steph highly enough. From taking mum into their care the night she passed, the dignity & respect they treated her with through to the marvellous funeral (despite the lockdown & social distancing) & then the after care supporting my dad, sister & I following the loss of our much loved mum. We have found Steph to be a source of great comfort. Obviously this isn’t a service one ‘wants’ to use but the highly professional caring approach makes one of the most difficult experiences that bit more bearable. Honestly could not recommend this company more. Steph and Robbie were absolutely amazing in the whole process. They looked after my dad with so much dignity and respect, and they were there for myself and my family whenever we needed them, and even called 10 weeks after the funeral to check on us. Obviously this is not a service any of us ever want to use but we will all need to at some point and these are the only people I will trust to use again. Can not thank them enough for everything ♥️

I can’t recommend Herbert Murray strongly enough. From the first morning I stepped, slightly shellshocked, through the door, I was treated with such care and empathy. Every last detail was tailored to my dad’s wishes and preferences, and they made the whole process so much easier than expected. Not only are Robbie and Steph consummate professionals, but truly caring individuals. Thanks for the brews, the biccies, the pep talks and the laughs - I feel like I’ve given my dad the send off he would have wanted and made two new friends into the bargain.

From the moment I walked in & met Robbie & Steph , I just knew this is where I wanted mum to be, I honestly didn’t want mum to leave there . Robbie would ring me every other day to check I was ok & if there was anything I needed or to talk to ring her anytime, she would always tell mum was doing great & that gave me tremendous comfort. The service was “amazing “, every one commented what a lovely service it was. Sarah-jayne the minister was so lovely & down to earth , made us laugh & cry with some of the stories we told of mum . The flowers so beautiful, mum loved pink & blue , I wanted wild & meadowy flowers which they were & the next day Robbie popped round with them in vases. I can’t thank you all enough xxx

We as a family cannot thank Robbie Steph Nula and all the staff at Herbert Murray enough for how they supported us when our dear Dad recently passed away. From our first very anxious visit they were truly amazing and wonderful. So caring and nothing was too much trouble at all. Hugely professional and such amazing people. They knew exactly what we were going through and just helped us so much during such a sad difficult time. Their compassion is second to none and they were always available to help us and answer our queries. I cannot thank Steph and Robbie enough for the service they provided to our family during our loss. From the first phone call nothing was too much trouble and they treated us all with compassion, kindness and great care. They were able to gently guide us though this difficult process and made us feel that everything we aksed for was no problem. They supported myself and my girls and the immediate family and took time to sit with us when we needed it and knew when to step back. I am so glad I chose them to help us say out final goodbyes and cannot recommend them highly enough. Thank you so much.

Rarely do you come across a business where service is delivered with such exceptional care and professionalism. Robbie and Steph have created a business at the heart of our community which is filled with such love. from the moment we stepped through the door we felt the enormous care they extend to bereaved families.
