THINGS TO THINK ABOUT

This is usually the first and most personal choice to make, as different religions & beliefs, family traditions and the deceased’s personal requests will play a part in making this decision.

At Herbert Murray Funeral Directors we want each funeral to be a true and unique reflection of a person’s life. Every person is individual and have individual tastes, we want these to be expressed during the funeral as these are usually the things we love most about them. There are many ways to commemorate a person’s life, some things to consider are:

Hobbies and Pastimes

Families who want to favour a unique tribute to a person’s life can let their imagination go wild when it comes to hobbies and pastimes. Some examples of past funerals at Herbert Murray Funeral Directors have included picture coffins, pink hearses, fairy lights around the coffin, Dr Who themed funeral, funeral procession being driven around football stadiums, wellies on top of the coffin…

Order of Service Stationery

Order of service allow mourners to follow the service and a unique commemoration to the deceased. They allow mourners to follow the service and can include poems and photos that are special to the family. In addition to order of service we can provide memorial cards, bookmarks and condolence books.

Music

Families can choose to have a recorded piece of music, an organist, bag piper, jazz band or solo singers. They can have a classical piece of music or light hearted pieces of music. We will discuss with you at the time if there are any restrictions

Flowers

Floral tributes can be made into various shapes and sizes. They can range from traditional coffin sprays to more personal tributes. Some example of personal tributes Herbert Murray have had over the years have been guitars, spades, horse’s head and military badges.

Funeral Vehicles

Herbert Murray Funeral Directors can source specialist vehicles for funerals. These can range from the traditional Horse Drawn Carriage to a motor bike hearse.
